world tree fine art

Imogen Ashwin graduated in 2001 with a First Class honours degree in Fine Art, and completed an MA in Fine Art in 2002. Her experience since then as an arts practitioner and facilitator is outlined in her CV and artist's statement.

You Are Here (Morley pond); You Are Here (Holme Beach); Nightpond IV

Imogen's own work is primarily expressed through mixed media installation, often employing photography, video and object making. She has always been fascinated by resonant places in the landscape and the interface between humans and nature, so her work constantly explores these themes.

Trevor Ashwin is a keen photographer, and is also active as an artist. At present he is using digital collage techniques and cartography - both key 'tools of his trade' as an archaeologist and illustrator - to explore familiar landscapes in a more subjective way than he once did as a field archaeologist.

Projects

Festial (2007-2008)

Festial logoDuring 2007-8, Imogen conducted Festial, a year-long, Arts Council funded residency in a largely unrestored medieval church in the village of Wood Dalling, three miles from her home. This project explored the extent to which it is possible to share in, empathise with and 'inhabit' the medieval world, from our contemporary standpoint.

Pace (2009)

Festial logoSummer 2009 saw another project by Imogen. Pace was an urban intervention in the form of a series of installations and performances on Magdalen Street, Norwich. The work took place concurrently with Norwich's biennial festival of contemporary art CAN 09, which ran from 11 July until 31 August 2009.
