Trevor Ashwin's experience as a field and research archaeologist is summarised in his CV. As well as directing fieldwork and research projects of all kinds he has worked as an editor, an illustrator and as a specialist in artefacts and faunal remains. He has published extensively, and has co-edited a leading county archaeological journal since 1996. While his working life has now diversified beyond archaeology and history, he remains keenly active as an archaeological editor, illustrator, researcher and consultant.
World
Tree's services to archaeological organisations and
publishers include the following:
Editing publication reports, technical documents and popular publications.
Consultancy, in particular regarding publications and research; refereeing.
Illustration and cartography.
Teaching, lecturing and outreach work, specifically within Trevor’s main specialism - British prehistory.
Trevor's past experience in field archaeology embraces several specialist and technical fields as well as project management, synthetic studies and teaching. This helps World Tree take a holistic view of archaeological and historical research projects. Few of the 'issues' that face so many archaeological projects - including resource scarcity and timetable constraints - are unfamiliar to him!
Most of Trevor's current activities in this field are connected, in one way or another, with publication projects. Thus there is a considerable overlap between World Tree's archaeological consultancy and its editing and graphics work. Trevor frequently advises on the planning and specification of archaeological publications. This often involves devising a rationale for publishing information and ideas that will meet the needs and expectations of a book or article's intended audience and also represents value for money to archaeological contractors, publishers and funders.
